Native to the sub-tropical dry forests of the Bongolava Mountains of Madagascar is this unusual shrublet.
Although not entirely a succulent, it remains a must grow for enthusiasts. Its branches are smooth, peeling, and stemless leading up to the crown where leaves form like an open umbrella.
The vivid green leaves fan out with red to purplish accents at the base of the stems. Flowers are yellow clusters at the center of the leaf crown.
A joy to grow and behold. This plant prefers an acidic soil. To get the pink leaf basis to really pop, we mix coffee grounds into the soil mix and top dress older specimens.
