Kalanchoes are not particularly hard to grow. Some moderate watering and filtered light and they are good to go.
The color on Kalanchoe tigrina is simply striking. Broad leaves grow in clumps that are greenish yellow with deep crimson tiger stripes. In the shade the leaves will grow bigger but lose the purple crossbanding.
The springtime bloom spike is thin and branchy with delicate feathery violet flowers. Not one of the "mother of a thousand" types but it will produce copious amounts of seed. Once its flowering cycle has ended, growers may prefer to trim the bloom spike at the base. Then the plant will begin to form a cluster.
