Pachypodium baronii baronii
Madagascar Pachypodium baronii baronii is one of only two current species that produces red flowers. For this reason, it is highly cherished among avid collectors.
Easy enough to grow, it has thick wide leaves and spines that eventually fall off as the plant grows. Not nearly as cactus like as many of the other species and only found in two small areas in N. Madai.
There are several different growth forms. One form branches at a young age before flowering. Another form produces a huge belly like caudex. Yet another form with incredible wide oblong leaves has more of a pachycaul trunk and it will not branch until it flowers.
Available in 2 and 4 inch pots.
