Discovered by John Lavrranos in 1993, described in 1996, and known from only one location. 

The discovery was unexpected which is where it receives its name. Inopinatum=unexpected. 

This species was part of the rosulatum group but received species status.

A bush form of Pachypodium with tan skin and white flowers. 

4 inch pot size.
