Growing in the Makay Mountains in the Toliara Province of southern Madagascar, makayense was first published in 2004 by Greek/South African botanist, John Jacob Lavranos.
This species was part of the rosulatum group having the typical bright yellow flowers of rosulatum but definitely distinguished by a white ring around the mouth of the tube. It produces a caudex that is more squat than it is tall, setting it apart from the other varieties that formed the rosulatum group.
The plant is approximately 7 inches tall measured from the bottom of the pot to the tip of the plant.
In a 4 inch terracotta pot.
Ships in pot.
